Rather, this lappy is designed around a super lightweight Linux Core, making the Chrome OS all that’s needed to run the browser. And that, my friends, is why this unique machine comes sans desktop or icons – and also why it looks a little creepy: this guy’s all browser, all the time.

An enhanced version of Gateway’s ID47 notebook is graced with a speedier processor, Intel’s Wireless Display technology, and the same sensible price as its predecessor. Plus, the new version preserves all of the features that have folks raving over the previous one like an elegant brushed aluminum-alloy chassis, a slimmer-than-slim bezel and USB 3.0.
But the design specs are bumped up a notch on this new version. For instance, the keyboard sports polished, metallic-hued keys and is accented with a chic, deep-blue tinted touch-pad. Plus, the black bezel surrounding the screen highlights a beautiful...
